- Epic Games push players to get 2FA
- Add security through either your phone or email and protect your account
Epic Games want you to get 2FA, but what is it and do I need it?
Short answer: 2FA is an added layer of security that requires you to input a code sent to another device or email you have specified when you log in for the first time on a device or after a long absence.
It means that someone else can’t log into your account without having additional access to either your email or your phone. It’s a simple a quick layer of security that is well worth having if you care about your account (our advice – get 2FA for everything you can).
Here’s the Epic Games guide to getting started with 2FA:
To opt into Two-Factor Authentication:
1. In your ACCOUNT Settings, click on the PASSWORD & SECURITY tab to view your security settings.
2. At the bottom of the page, under the TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION heading, click to ENABLE AUTHENTICATOR APP or ENABLE EMAIL AUTHENTICATION as your two-factor method.
If you prefer to use an authenticator app for two-step verification, here are a few common authenticator apps that can be found in your mobile device app store:
* Google Authenticator
* LastPass Authenticator
* Microsoft Authenticator
* Authy
Keep your account safe and remember, Epic employees will never ask for your password!
